If your bathroom vanity is in relatively good condition, try repairing them. First they need a thorough cleaning. Murphy’s oil soap works really well. If your surface is shellac or lacquer repair by using a brush and the proper solvent to soften and fill crack. Use lacquer thinner for lacquer and alcohol for shellac. If your finish is vanish; rub in old English and then sand with light fine sandpaper. Let harden and finish off by polishing with paste wax in all instances. For condensation or water spots try cleaning. If that does not work rub toothpaste with soft cloth into stain.

If they are in really poor condition you should completely redo them. Remove the doors, handles and hinges. Strip off the old surface using a chemical stripper to remove old surface. Follow manufacturers and practice proper safety procedure. Make sure area is well ventilated and wear safety goggles and mask. After old surface is removed; clean and sand. Make sure all dust is removed from the cabinets. Apply stain and finish with several layers of clear coats. Lightly sand in between layers of clear coat.
