Wood burning fireplaces require regular cleaning which includes the chimney. Because this is a real fire, you should monitor it closely. Gas Burning Models This model is becoming more popular. They can easily be converted from wood burning units to gas. By using natural gas or propane there is no more messy wood chips or ashes. The gas burns cleaner and there is no more buying or chopping wood. The gas burning fireplace should be turned off at night or when leaving by flipping the off switch. Electric Burning Models This unit is my personal favorite for the bathroom. Just plug it in and it is ready to go. The electric burning fireplace provides it all: realistic looking wood, glowing embers, and heat. They can be controlled by thermostat, timers and remote control. There are many different styles that will match any décor in the bathroom. If you are short on space try a corner unit. There are also wall mounted units, free standing units and double sided units. Double sided units are great for the master/bath bedroom suite. The cost of a fireplace can be as little as $200 or thousands for custom designed models. Cost is determined by the fuel type, style, size, materials and design of the unit.
